Broadcasting publication TVNewsCheck featured Lilly Broadcasting's coverage of the Ukrainian refugee crisis from Poland in an article published Monday.

During the 10-day trip, Washington D.C. reporter Rachel Knapp and Erie News Now (WICU/WSEE) photographer Brian Schnieders brought viewers live reports and produced daily packages and briefings for the company's stations in Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan and the Caribbean.

Both are also working on a 30-minute special set to air in early April.

“We have just been nonstop working like clockwork,” Knapp said in the article, which also noted she "may be the only local TV reporter in America who is on the ground in Poland covering the humanitarian efforts."

The reporting brought viewers a unique local look at the situation.

“We have a company in Erie, Logistics Plus, and they have employees in Ukraine," said Brian Trauring, executive vice president of Lilly Broadcasting, in an interview for the article. "They are sending assistance to Poland to help get some of those employees out, so having a local company with a tie to what’s happening was a fairly easy call.”

Knapp's stories also featured people who were in Poland to provide assistance and had ties to the Erie, Pa., and Elmira, N.Y., areas, which is where two of the company's stations are located.
