Veteran news manager Scott MacDowell will join Erie News Now as News Director.

MacDowell comes to Erie after serving as Assistant News Director for CBS42, WIAT in Birmingham, Alabama for seven years.  Previously, he was Director of News Content at WKBW in Buffalo from 2008-2012.  He was Chief Photographer at WKBW from 1999-2008 after starting his career as a photojournalist there in 1992.

“Scott brings a wealth of knowledge to our NBC and CBS stations in Erie”, said Brian Trauring, Vice President of News, Marketing & Content Development for Lilly Broadcasting.  “He knows the region well.  He is an Emmy-award winning journalist who will continue to elevate the tradition of excellence at Erie News Now with an emphasis on great storytelling and comprehensive coverage of events in Northwest Pennsylvania.”

MacDowell will relocate to Erie as he begins his new responsibilities in early June.

''I am honored to join the team in Erie," said MacDowell. "I’m looking forward to working hard to help deliver the best storytelling, on-air and online, to the people of Northwest Pennsylvania.”

Erie News Now selected MacDowell to lead its news organization following a nationwide search.
