When you combine the Aloha spirit with the grueling challenge of one of America’s largest marathons, the result is a thrilling adventure in paradise.  KITV4 (ABC) is proud to present live coverage of the Honolulu Marathon on Sunday, December 9th as the spectacular scenery of Oahu sets the scene for the 26.2 mile course along the Pacific Ocean.  The race begins at 5:00 a.m. with fireworks greeting spectators and competitors as the race begins. 

The Honolulu Marathon attracts approximately 30,000 participants and is the fourth largest marathon in the United States.  The course route winds through downtown Honolulu, past Iolani Palace and the Christmas lights, through Waikiki and climbs up and around Diamond Head, before heading out through Kahala and out to Hawaii Kai. Turning back after Hawaii Kai toward Kahala and Honolulu, the course passes Diamond Head again on the ocean side before finishing in Kapiolani Park.

KITV4 live coverage begins at 4:55am and continues through 8:00 a.m. with live segments broadcast from throughout the course.  Hosted by KITV4 anchor Robert Kekaula, the KITV4 Island News and Sports team will bring viewers all the color and competition.  The event will also be available through a live stream on KITV.com.  Hawaii TV will rebroadcast the event from 1:55 - 5 p.m. and from 6:55 - 10 p.m.
